Thomas F. Konop
Thomas F. Konop is of counsel
at Sadis & Goldberg LLP and a member of the Corporate
and Financial Services Group of the firm. He has broad experience
in the regulation of investment companies, their broker-dealer
distributors and their advisers. His experience includes
the creation and registration of these companies, as well
as their operation, regulation, compliance, management, examination
and conduct in the market. In addition, he has significant
experience in advising private accounts and their managers.
Mr. Konop has served both as in-house
and outside counsel to a number of mutual fund complexes and
insurance companies. Prior to returning to private practice
in 1999, Mr. Konop spent more than 12 years providing legal
advice to a major broker-dealer/adviser, its 42 funds and
its numerous private accounts. He recently served as a consultant
and general counsel for the variable annuity business of the
flagship insurance company of a $463 billion global financial
services organization. He joined Sadis & Goldberg in
2002 from one of the largest law firms in the U.S.
Mr. Konop has been a speaker at
industry conferences on such topics as mutual fund registration
and investment adviser compliance. He has held committee
memberships dealing with such subjects as SEC rules, federal
legislation, compliance, advertising and investment advisers
for the Investment Company Institute.
Mr. Konop is admitted to practice
in New York and Wisconsin. He received his B.A. in 1964 and
his J.D. in 1967 from Marquette University, where he was the
recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award. From 1967 to
1969 he served in the United States Army, where he attained
the rank of Captain and was awarded the Bronze Star for his
service as a Company Commander in the Vietnam War. |
