Steven M. Etkind
Steven Etkind is the head of the Tax and Business Succession and Estate Planning Group at Sadis & Goldberg. He is the author of two books and over two dozen articles about taxation, estate planning and ESOPs, published by the AICPA, Estate Planning, The Journal of Employee Ownership Law and Finance, Distribution Advisor, the UJA-Federation
of New York’s publication Tax Planning Tips for Professional Advisors, Taxation for Lawyers, Small Business Taxation, WG & L Tax News, Taxation for Accountants, Barron’s, Prentice Hall Tax Ideas Service, and has spoken dozens of times at professional organizations, such as the Hedge Mar Conference, Planned Giving of
Greater New York, the ESOP Association, the National Center for Employee Ownership, NYU Institute, and the New York State Society of CPAs. He has advised hundreds of private investment partnerships, such as hedge funds and venture capital funds in setting up their businesses in a tax efficient manner, both within the U.S. and in offshore
jurisdictions. He frequently represents Trust Companies when they serve as ESOP fiduciaries, and has created and implemented over a thousand estate plans for families. He previously served as an advisor on ESOPs to the Empire State Development Corporation, and has been quoted in the New York Times and Money Magazine. He received a
B.A. from Brandeis University in 1983, a J.D. from Tulane University in 1986, and a L.L.M. in Taxation in 1993, and is also licensed in New York State as a Certified Public Accountant.
